🌌 Daily Reflection

Let’s all take a moment to celebrate the obvious: we survived. Again. Woohoo. Another day of waking up, realizing life is still a dumpster fire, and yet—miraculously—we didn’t implode. Honestly? Progress.

People love to tell you to stay present. Be in the now. Feel your body. Smell the flowers. But you know what “now” used to mean for a lot of us? Chaos. Screaming. Loneliness. Or the emotional Olympics of pretending everything was fine while dissociating like a pro. So no, Susan—being present doesn’t always feel like a spa day.

I work with clients who try really hard to be mindful, only to discover that “being in the moment” sometimes feels like staring straight into the gaping abyss of childhood trauma. And personally? Same. My present used to involve watching my nervous system throw a tantrum while I smiled politely in therapy like I had it together. (Spoiler: I did not.)

But here’s the deeply annoying truth: you can’t heal what you won’t feel. So we return—again and again—to the crime scene: our bodies. Not because we love pain, but because somewhere in that smoldering wreckage is the freedom we actually want. And apparently, the only exit is through.

So no, the Force isn’t mystical fairy dust. It’s your ability to stay conscious for five whole seconds without spiraling into a shame black hole. Congratulations—you’re basically a Jedi now.

💭 Thought for the Day

The present moment might suck—but at least it’s not a hallucination from 1996.

🖋 Reflection Questions

  1. What sensations or emotions make you want to flee the present moment the fastest?

  2. When you slow down, what does your nervous system immediately try to protect you from?

  3. What would it mean to stay present for just a few seconds longer than usual?

🌀 Quote “I find your lack of regulation… disturbing.” — Not Darth Vader, but probably your therapist 🌌 Daily Reflection Ah yes—the end of the month. 🌀 Quote “Let go? You will? When hell freezes over, hmm?” — Definitely Not Yoda 🌌 Daily Reflection Ah yes—grief. That warm emotional blanket soaked in snot, shame, and regret. Nothing like starting your day crying for three hours because a dead houseplant or a rude text from 2011 just hit different.
